Kate's spring dance show

On the same day as the "Rapunzel" show, Kate had her final dance show.  We were SO lucky that the Rapunzel show was in the morning and that the dance show was in the evening.

Kate LOVED getting all dolled up and her hair done with makeup on.  She is such a girl!  She loved going to dance class with year with her friends - Josie, Sarah & Brie.

The theme of the show was "Guys & Dolls" and her little group danced to Justin Bieber's "Baby" song.   Kate - you were spectacular!!

They started out behind the cardboard cut-out of Justin

Now, she's right next to him.

Rapunzel Show

I have been really excited to do this post!!   This school year, Lindsey & Kate took a class from "Up With Kids," which is a musical theater class for kids.   They went once a week for an hour.  This year, the show was "Rapunzel" (just like Disney's Tangled movie).  The first 1/2 of the school year, they learn about different aspects of theater and how every person is important in a show.  Then, in February, they were casted into their parts.    Lindsey was casted as "Tall Rapunzel" and Kate was casted as "Tigress" (a chameleon).  (They changed the story a little in order to have a lot more parts for kids).  A couple of weeks later, Kate was asked to also play "Snow Cone Fairy."    Then, two weeks before the show, they asked her to be "Pascal" as well.  Both girls did an incredible job learning and memorizing their parts and Lindsey worked hard to be able to sing her solos beautifully!

The group performed twice.  The first time was for the special needs kids and a couple of smaller local schools at Murray High School and then they had their regular performance for family & friends at Bonneville Jr. High.

I couldn't have been prouder of these two girls of mine.  It was a definite "pay day" for me and I still smile when I think of how cute they were and how great they did!   We were so lucky to have such great support from our family.  Both sets of grandparents live away, so they didn't have them there, but Rich & Misty came with Sophia, Annie & Becky Cowden came and their art teacher, Ms. Camille came.

Small Rapunzel, Lindsey as Tall Rapunzel & Medium Rapunzel

Kate as a chameleon (I thought these costumes were so cute!)  They are pretending to hold Rapunzel's long hair.

When Kate was casted as Pascal, it was such a blessing because they got to interact a lot on stage.

Pascal is lifting Flynn Rider's head to get the satchel.

She was so cute!

 Mother Gothel was great too!

I love this sweet little picture.  She's so shy, but she was doing exactly what the teacher had taught them to do.

The kingdom dance at the very end

 Bowing

The very last song (after the bows) was sung by the entire cast, complete with sign language.

Hannah started sobbing at the end of the first show because of the touching music & sign language.

 The girl's teacher, Ms. Shauna

Great work Lindsey & Kate!  I'll probably still be watching the DVD of this show when I'm old and in a nursing home!

Jack - Liberty league baseball

Jack is finishing up his first season of playing in Murray's Liberty League baseball league.   He's had a great season and it's been fun to watch him play.  They started with coach-pitch, then transitioned to kid-pitch for the first inning or two, and now it's kid-pitch most of the game.

Jack's had the chance to pitch quite a few times and is a pretty good pitcher.   He likes that position best, but as with most sports, just really likes to play the game.  His team has only won 1 game, but Jack has given it his best!  He'll start a coach-pitch rec team in about a month and is excited to play with his 3rd cousin, Dane.

Nice season #5!!!

Hannah's final dance class

Hannah had a really fun time taking dance with 2 little girls from our ward this year - Heidi & Eva.  It was great for us to carpool and Hannah loved to go - most of the time.  There were a couple of times near the beginning of the school year that she didn't participate, but mostly, she loved dressing in dance clothes and going.

I've mentioned this before, but she did manage to get herself kicked out of dance class the week before this one.  She wanted to stand by Heidi, which she ALWAYS does, but another girl got there before Hannah.  Well, Hannah refused to dance, so the teacher ended up sending her out into the hall to sit with the moms.

Anyway, the parents got to come in the last day and see what they had learned....so cute!

All the dancers gathered around Ms. Lisa

Notice she is always right next to Heidi :)

The funniest part of the day was watching Hannah do "shuffles."  She had great form and loved them, but she doesn't actually let her foot shuffle on the ground.  Hers are more of an "air shuffle."   We'll have to work on that this summer.  Next year, she'll be old enough to be in a show group!

Spring Soccer - Lindsey

As a mother, sometime I totally mess things up!  Well, I did that with taking pictures of Lindsey playing soccer this spring!  Geez!!  I thought I had taken some and realized that I hadn't after her last game.  Thank goodness there is always next fall!

Lindsey had a great soccer season!  She is a really good player and scored several goals and had several great assists too.  She primarily plays offense and runs her little heart out on the field.   We have been so grateful that all of our kids had wonderful, kind coaches!   They also played with a great group of kids!

Great work #27!  You're awesome!

Spring Soccer - Jack

Jack was thrilled to play another season of rec soccer and had a fun team this year!  Several of his friends were on it, so it was fun to see them play.  He LOVES whatever sport is in season and soccer was fun for him.

Way to go Bud!
