Hawaii - Day Five

We had a busy, full, last day in Hawaii.

We got up fairly early, exercised, spent some time at the beach, got ready and checked out of the resort.  We then headed to Waimea Falls to hike through a botanical garden up to a waterfall.  It was gorgeous!

Jon took this picture of the bird - we nicknamed it the Buckeye bird because they were the most amazing colors of red & grey.

After our hike, we headed to the BYU Hawaii campus and the Laie Temple visitor's center.  Both were great!

Then, for the afternoon, we went and toured a working ranch where several films/tv shows have been filmed.  I can't remember the name, but it was really cool!

This was built during WWII where the military hid supplies & men (it's one of those days - I can't remember what this was called either).

A scene from Jurassic Park was filmed here - where the 2 kids and man are running down the hill from the dinosaurs and they hid behind the fallen tree.  Well, this was the fallen tree.

And the hill where the dinosaurs were running after them.

This hill was part of a Lost episode when Hurley had a 2-hole golf tournament

Movie makers created this giant footprint for a scene in Godzilla

And several scenes from 50 First Dates was also filmed here (minus the live cow)

Pearl Harbor was also filmed partly on this ranch, as well as several others.  It was really cool to see how beautiful the island is.

After the tour, we drove back to Honolulu, stopped & ate at Costco and then went to the airport to catch a red-eye flight home.  It was a long, sleepless night, but it was so wonderful to get home to the kids.   Misty & Rich were amazing with them and took such great care of them.  Thank you so, so much!
