Disney Wonder - Day 1 & 2

**  I forgot to mention in my last post, that when our flight coming into Orlando we had about 40 minutes left, the flight attendant got on the intercom and asked if there was a doctor on the flight.  Jon got up and went to the back of the plane.  There was a 70 year old lady who had passed out in the bathroom and so he spent the rest of the flight helping her.    When we landed the pilot told everyone that EMS was meeting the flight and we were to all stay in our seats until they could get her off first.   I was grateful that we weren't diverted to a different city and I'm so glad Jon was able to help.    She appeared to be doing much better when EMS took her off and then Jon talked with her husband on the phone when we got inside the terminal.  I was so proud of him! **

Anyway, on Sunday morning, we woke up early, got our bags and drove from Orlando to Miami.   The kids were great in the car and we were able to drive right up to the Port.  Jack got carsick in the last 5 minutes of the drive, but thankfully threw up in a Ziploc bag and not all over the place.

Jon dropped the kids and I off at the Port of Miami and he drove the rental van back to the dealership and took a taxi back to us.   We then started the boarding process.

Disney runs everything so smoothly and no lines were ever really long.   They scanned all our documents, checked our passports (which thankfully we already all had because of our trip to Russia), and they tagged Lindsey, Jack, Kate & Hannah with a wristband.   They wore the wristband the whole time and it had a GPS system in it and that's how we checked the little ones in and out of their activities.

We got to our rooms - which were connecting.   We had heard that it was fun to decorate the outside of the doors, so we did.  I had taken the kids to Zurchers before our trip and we found some Mickey & Minnie balloons and fun streamers.  It was really easy to spot our door as we walked down the long hallway of staterooms.

Our first stop was to eat lunch at the buffet that was open.   The food on the cruise was excellent!  We'd go to a restaurant every morning for a buffet breakfast, lunch was usually really casual by the pool (they have pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken strips, fries, hot dogs, etc. any time you want them), and then dinner was at a sit-down restaurant each night. 

 



Then, it was time for the Deck Party and to start sailing.   We ended up standing by the door that a lot of the characters came out of.

I love how Hailey is standing.  She stood there is pure amazement at all those big characters coming out of the door.

 



Hannah at dinner - you can see her wristband on the table.  She squeezed it off that first night, so we had to take her back to get it reattached.

 



Mickey ice cream bars were Hailey's dessert every night (except for the night she absolutely refused to eat any dinner - I wouldn't let her have one then).

 

Monday was a day at sea.  The bigger kids slept in and so Jon & I took the 2 little ones to breakfast and then I took them to play at the Oceaneer Club.   Hailey was too little to stay by herself, but when they had openhouses, then I could take her.

The kids were excited to swim.  They don't allow swim diapers in any of their pools, so poor Hailey only had a little splash area to play in.  She knew that she was totally missing out, but there wasn't anything we could do about it.

Monday night was Pirate Night!   We brought several pirate dress-up things (again from Zurchers) and tried to look as Pirate-y as possible.   Everyone got a bandana at dinner.   After dinner, we went to the show, which was a magician, and then they had a Pirate Deck Party.  It was mostly music and characters dancing.  Mickey then ziplined from one tower to the next, which started a firework show.

 



After the fireworks, they had turkey legs (only the way Disney can do turkey legs - enormous!).  So yummy!
