Hannah's preschool graduation

Hannah had a wonderful year of preschool!  She'd go Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9 to 11:15 to Ms. Lorie's preschool.  Ms. Lorie teaches with her dad, Grandpa Avery, and Hannah absolutely loved it.  Hannah went with her best friend Heidi and Ms. Lorie was so good about letting them sit together as long as they were quiet.   You know she's a brilliant teacher when there wasn't ever any problems with Hannah & Heidi :).

The last day of preschool was their "graduation" (even though they are going again next year - but 3 days a week).   Ms. Lorie had paired up the kids and given them a poem to recite.  They learned the poems during the year, so it was easy for them to re-learn.  Hannah & Heidi were paired together (smart move!) and they were by far, the most confident and easiest to hear.

The program was about 7 songs and 7 poems.   With each song, Hannah & Heidi got louder and louder.  They knew every single word and every single action.  It sort of turned into the "Hannah & Heidi" show.   But, they were so, so cute!

Kate's Kindergarten Western Program

 A couple of weeks ago, the Kindergarten classes performed their annual Western Program.  They worked on it for many, many weeks.  They were so cute!  Each kid had a cowboy hat and bandana on and they sang about 8 songs and did little dances in between.   Kate did the square dance and was super excited to do it with her friend, Kage. 

I can't believe she'll be in 1st grade already next year!  She absolutely LOVED Kindergarten and is sure excited to be at school all day in the fall!

We had Brooklyn this day and she wanted nothing to do with watching the show, so she spent her time trying to get in good graces with the lunch ladies.  Her charm paid off and they eventually just let her come on in and they fed her salad and grapes.

Longview Elementary's 50th Anniversary

 Just to add to the busy-ness of May, our Elementary school celebrated it's 50th Anniversary.   As a PTA, we helped create a huge tile display with tiles decorated by every student, teacher & staff.  I spent several hours at the school that week and helped the classes complete this.  All the kids had a blast decorating a tile and it will be fun to see how it ends up looking (I'll have to post a picture when it's done).

On Thursday of that week, the school did a Sock Hop and the kids were encouraged to dress up in 50's attire.  I thought my little bunch were the cutest!!

Kate's spring dance show

 On the same day as the "Rapunzel" show, Kate had her final dance show.  We were SO lucky that the Rapunzel show was in the morning and that the dance show was in the evening.

Kate LOVED getting all dolled up and her hair done with makeup on.  She is such a girl!  She loved going to dance class with year with her friends - Josie, Sarah & Brie.

The theme of the show was "Guys & Dolls" and her little group danced to Justin Bieber's "Baby" song.   Kate - you were spectacular!!

Rapunzel Show

I have been really excited to do this post!!   This school year, Lindsey & Kate took a class from "Up With Kids," which is a musical theater class for kids.   They went once a week for an hour.  This year, the show was "Rapunzel" (just like Disney's Tangled movie).  The first 1/2 of the school year, they learn about different aspects of theater and how every person is important in a show.  Then, in February, they were casted into their parts.    Lindsey was casted as "Tall Rapunzel" and Kate was casted as "Tigress" (a chameleon).  (They changed the story a little in order to have a lot more parts for kids).  A couple of weeks later, Kate was asked to also play "Snow Cone Fairy."    Then, two weeks before the show, they asked her to be "Pascal" as well.  Both girls did an incredible job learning and memorizing their parts and Lindsey worked hard to be able to sing her solos beautifully!


The group performed twice.  The first time was for the special needs kids and a couple of smaller local schools at Murray High School and then they had their regular performance for family & friends at Bonneville Jr. High. 


I couldn't have been prouder of these two girls of mine.  It was a definite "pay day" for me and I still smile when I think of how cute they were and how great they did!   We were so lucky to have such great support from our family.  Both sets of grandparents live away, so they didn't have them there, but Rich & Misty came with Sophia, Annie & Becky Cowden came and their art teacher, Ms. Camille came.

 When Kate was casted as Pascal, it was such a blessing because they got to interact a lot on stage.

Great work Lindsey & Kate!  I'll probably still be watching the DVD of this show when I'm old and in a nursing home!
