Last night, we were lucky enough to get to go to a Salt Lake Bees baseball game. Becky works part-time for them, so she was kind enough to get us free tickets. It was a gorgeous evening and we were sitting along the first base line. I literally had asked Jon what the chances were of a foul ball being hit our way and at the top of the 3rd a surprise came our way!!
I looked up to see a foul ball coming out of the sky towards us, but still thought that it wouldn't quite make it to us. A group clumped together to catch the ball and our first thought was "Where did that ball go?" A second later, I heard someone say "That ball hit Kate." Sure, enough, poor Kate got hit in the forehead with that ball. She immediately started to cry (a good sign!) and thankfully Jon was there (it's such a blessing to have an ER doctor as a dad)! The people around us were so kind and we were able to get ice on it pretty quick. Jon took her to the first aid station to look at her pupils and she was thankfully, just fine - other than the gigantic goose egg on her forehead.
She loved the extra attention and the 2 baseballs (including one signed by The Bee) and snowcone she got. She's a pretty resilient kid and we are so grateful that it didn't hit in a worse place!

Poor Kate!!! That is really bad. Glad she is ok. Looks like a fun night!
Oh! Poor Kate! Glad she's alright!
At moments like that, aren't you glad you are married to a doctor? Sounds terrible! I am glad she is okay.
That's horrible. That goose egg looks really painful. What luck-really, what are the chances!
I don't know how Addie knew this story, but she told me all about it.
That sounds and looks like it hurt, poor thing! Did you know there was another doctor there nearby? In the picture where Jon and Kate are returning from First Aid, sitting behind them is one of the pediatricians who comes here to LDS Hospital!
Poor Kate. The luck.
