Our neighborhood gets together during the summer and 1 day a week, has an activity. We have done storybook day, water games, making boats & sailing them in a creek, playing in fountains, swimming, etc. Last week, my friend Emily & I, helped do the activity. Another gal put together tye dying shirts. The kids LOVED doing this - they got to squirt their own shirts and decide what design they wanted.
Then, Emily had arranged for the Murray City fire department to come. We had the kids made thank you notes to them and then Firefighter Greg talked with them about safety. Then, they hooked their hose up to the fire hydrant and spent 10-15 minutes squirting the kids (and trying to squirt the grownups). Most of the time, they'd keep the hose aimed high, so the kids could run under the water. But, occasionally, they would bring the hose down and knock some kids over with it.
Kate was running with her back to the hose and they squirted her on the back. She fell right over! Thankfully, she didn't cry and just got up and ran over to where I was standing. We ended with Otter Pops & little bottles of water.

What a great neighborhood you have! That is really awesome. You guys have done some fun things. Maybe I'll move into your neighborhood-sounds like tons of fun!
That looks like so much fun! That is really cool that the fire department would come.
