Ending of spring soccer

About a week and a half ago, we finished another successful spring soccer season!   Emily, Lindsey, Jack, Kate & Hannah all played soccer - so we were busy!   All the kids did great!  We were so lucky that they had great coaches and great kids on their teams!

This is a game in Tooele.  I love watching Jack on the bench because he still stays so focused on the game.   Jack scored a goal in this game, so that was really fun!

Emily had a great season too!  She is my most dedicated soccer player.  Never complains about practices/trainings/games.  She just loves it!

Kate tolerated soccer.  She did love playing with her friends, Josie & Nicole, but she's not a big fan of the sport.   (Hence the reason I have signed her up for 2 dances in the fall).

I'm not sure where the ball is in this picture, but I think it's cute that Kate is super determined to get to it.

Lindsey played well too!  She is such a good passer and got several great assists.  She's decided not to do competitive soccer next year and I'm not sure why, but I'm having a really hard time with that.    I truly want what's best for her and want her to be happy.   We'll see what she decides to do now!

Wish us luck!

Latest quilt projects

Yeah for more reasons to make quilts!!

This little baby quilt is for McKinley Rasmussen, Kirsten's new baby.
My quilter, Jen, gave me this pattern and I loved it!   So simple and sweet.
But, like on most quilts, I messed up and cut the fabric wrong.
You'll notice that there is gray fabric as sashing in between the blocks.   That was supposed to be the inner border fabric as well, but I came up about 2 inches short.
I looked a 2 or 3 quilt stores to find it again, but couldn't.
So, I compromised and used some left-over yellow minkee that I had.
McKinley is absolutely darling and is such a wonderful addition to the Rasmussen family!

I loaded this picture 3 times and I have no idea why it's rotated wrong.  It's not that way on my computer, so I'm sorry you have to kink your head to the side to see it.

Anyway, this really, really cute quilt is for Max, my newest nephew!  I fell in love with this quilt and fabric when I first saw it.  It was a quick, easy quilt to make and my quilter did a fantastic job, as usual.

You can see on the black row that Jen quilted in little sailboats.

Max is just a doll!  He's a perfect combination of his dad (my brother Rich) and his sister Sophia.

And this table topper was fun....I made this for my friend, Alisha.  Alisha and I walk every morning at 6:15 and it was fun to make her something for her birthday.

If you look close, there are bells on the toes of the elves shoes.

"Color By Number" dance show

On Saturday, May 4th, Hannah & Kate had their final dance show of the year.   The theme was "Color by Number" and every dance had a color or number in it's name.  Kate danced to "Pink" by Aerosmith and Hannah danced to "Orange Colored Sky."

The girls did such a great job!  They performed at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., so the entire family came to the 5:00 show (except Jack, who was soooo happy to have a soccer game) and then I stayed to help with the 7:00 show and everyone else went to watch the last part of Jack's game.

This girl dances with lots of enthusiasm and happiness!

And, I really, really enjoyed watching Kate dance.  She had the prettiest smile on her face the entire dance and knew every dance step perfectly!   I think dance might be Kate's thing, so I signed her up for 2 classes next year.

 Isn't that the cutest face?

And, yea! for Grandma Bowen & Aunt Rebecca for coming to the show!  Thank you!!!

Up With Kids Show - A "Brave" Tale

Last weekend was one of the busiest weekends of the year, but one that I really, really love!

On Thursday, all 5 of the oldest kids had a soccer game or practice, Jon was at work, and my sweet mother-in-law and sister-in-law were coming into town.    Then, on Friday, Hannah & Kate had a dress rehearsal for their dance show (which was on Saturday) and then Lindsey, Kate & Hannah had their final performance for their Up With Kids program.  (Then on Saturday, was 5 more soccer events & the girls final dance show).

The 3 of them have been going every Wednesday for an hour during the school year to Up With Kids.  They have absolutely loved it!! (Kate & Lindsey did it last year, but this was Hannah's first year).    Hannah & Kate went together and every time I'd stay and watch, Kate would always make sure that Hannah was where she was supposed to be.   Lindsey was thrilled when her friend, Olivia, decided to do it too.

The show this year was "A Brave Tale" based on the movie "Brave."    The script is always changed so that it's not too scary and so that there are a lot of parts for all the kids.   Kate was cast as Small Merida & Share Bear,   Hannah was cast as Friend Bear & Lindsey was cast as one of the MacIntosh clan & Mulan.

They have 2 performances - one is during the week at Murray High School for the special needs kids and any of the local schools that choose to come and then another one on Friday night at Bonneville Jr. High.

We were so excited that Diane & Rebecca were able to be in town for it!   What good sports they were as we dragged them to all of these things.   I stayed with Hannah & Kate at their dance rehearsal until the very last minute that I could and then met everyone else over at Bonneville.

The show as fantastic!   Kate was a little shy, especially for being Merida, but did great!    Lindsey was fantastic and was a great dancer & actress.  And Hannah!   Oh, Hannah!    Every time she was out on stage, you could tell, she was bursting with excitement to be in a costume on a stage.

The funniest part of the show was during the Friday night show.  About 3 minutes into Scene 1, the little kids are dressed as Scottish children.   The parts were being said and I think even a song being sung and Hannah was standing in the middle of the stage picking something off the bottom of her shoe.   I quickly realized that it was a piece of tape that was on the stage as a marker.   She was finally able to pick it off, she placed it back down on the stage and stomped it back into place.  I could hear several giggles in the audience.  What a funny, funny girl!

Kate as Small Merida

The first few moments of Hannah on stage during the first show.  These 2 little boys are twins and were so cute together.

These are my favorite...Hannah had no idea that I was taking her picture, but this was how she was on stage - just so, so happy & excited!

The ending - the princesses & super heroes save the day!
