Summer projects

Back in the spring, I made this quilt for Emily's other friend Kenzie (she had 2 best friends named Kenzie who moved this summer)....she moved to Texas at the end of the summer.

After making the witches party quilt, I made this fun Halloween table runner.  What a blast - and so easy!  It's just strips and then I appliqued the pumpkins & spiders on.

I gave this table runner to my PTA Co-President & friend, Jen Davies.  It has been so nice to have a Co-President this year and she has really been a lifesaver to me.   Her birthday is in October, so it worked out perfectly!

Family Pictures

We had our family pictures taken a few weeks ago and it was a great experience!  I asked a friend in the ward to do them and she did a FABULOUS job!   We went to a place close to our house and the kids cooperated really well!

These are the individual pictures of the kids....I'll post our family picture after I send out our Christmas cards :)

What Hailey does when all the other kids go to school!

Every morning, Hailey and I send the rest of the 5 kids to school.   At 8:35 a.m., it's just her & I!

99% of the time, I haven't had time yet to eat breakfast and look at the morning paper, so I sit down to do that and Hailey starts her daily routine...

First, she removes about 1/2 the cushions on the couch and the jumping begins...

Hailey's pretty lucky - I seriously would have never let my oldest 5 children do this.  I don't have any good reason for not stopping her - maybe just pure laziness!

On the bright side, she's a great little jumper!

Witches Party 2013

This year was my 5th annual Witches Party and it was one of my favorites!!!

I seriously LOVE this party!  I start getting ready for it the year before (thinking of ideas), I start & make the quilt for the give-away in June, and then put final prep into it in September & October.

I was especially excited this year to have my mom back!  I've missed having her there!   The only glitch this year was having Jon at work.  We literally barricaded my kids and Becky's kids in the basement.   They did really well though.

These are the darling invitations that Kelsi made:

The theme this year was:  FAVORITES!

Instead of having the ladies bring a decorated witches hat, they brought 4 of something that was their favorite thing.  Then, each went home with 4 different things that were people's favorites.  I did this at last year's Ohio women's retreat and it was a blast!  It was super fun at this party too and everyone brought such fun things!

I didn't get very many pictures - mostly of the house before the party even started, but I loved how it turned out...

 The party favors - EASY!
It was a little test tube from Michael's, filled with Halloween colored Sixlets.  The sticker on it says "Witches Potion Pills"

And this was the quilt!  I especially loved the Chevron minkee on the back!

 Punch bowl cauldron

 Bread bowls

The menu was:
Chicken Noodle Soup
Roasted Corn Chowder
Chili
green salad
fresh pineapple & cantaloupe

Dessert:
sugar cookies (made by Whitney White)
pumpkin crumble

These 2 cute girls totally helped me pull this off.   They came early (after I spent the afternoon at a soccer game), picked up pizza for the kids, and helped me finish preparing all the food.

Jon's brother, Tom, was back in town from Alaska in time to put cobwebs on the house again.  It's definitely a favorite for me and he did not disappoint!  It makes the house so festive for Halloween!

The winner of this year's quilt was Meg!!!!
It was great because she actually was in Worland this summer when I made it - so she saw the whole process!  I was so glad she won it!

This was what I made for my "favorite" thing.  I love my witches party and I love quilting - so it combined both!

Yay for another successful Witches Party!

Gardner Village - Witch Hunt

This is my favorite time of year!   I love the cool nights and warm days!  I love wearing flip flops and a jacket at the same time!   I love the colorful leaves!

I also love all the fun activities there are to do.  We don't have a lot of nights open (because of soccer, dance, Up With Kids, etc)., but when we have one, we sure take advantage of it!

A couple of Mondays ago, we headed to Gardner Village for their annual Witches Scavenger Hunt!   We took Sophia with us and we divided into 2 teams - boys vs. girls.

Much to Jack's happiness, the boys won!  Although, us girls were much less competitive about it and even stopped for a little while to feed the ducks.

Sophia was a little hesitant about the witches at first, but she got used to them and enjoyed it!   She absolutely loves and adores Kate, so the two of them were unseparable!
