We have a teenager!

I swear Emily was just born yesterday!   But no, she is now an official teenager!   13 years old!  Wow!

She is the most beautiful, kind, sweet teenager out there!    We are so blessed to have her in our family!    I am sort of sad every day to send her to Junior High and hear all the stupid things that teenagers today do, but it makes me that much more grateful for a daughter with high standards & values.

She got to have a friend party this year, so we headed to Airborne (for the 3rd and final time!).   Her friends were all really sweet and great and I think they had a good time.  Jon & Jack didn't come because Jack had a soccer game.

I did have a terrible moment when an angry mother came out carrying Hailey asking "who's child is this?"    Hailey had gone into their party room and mucked up 4 of their cupcakes.  How embarrassing!!  I offered her 4 of mine, but she had no interest in that.

At one point, all the girls were playing dodge ball against a group of boys.

 Cute group of girls:

Jack Michael Bowen turns 9!!

We just love this little boy of ours!   He is so cute and so fun!   We were excited to celebrate his birthday back in October.

This is awful, but since it's been over a month since his birthday, I can't remember what he got.  duh!   I do remember he got a new board game, but I'll have to ask him when he gets home from school.

We had a birthday dinner for him (which I can't remember what he chose).   I really will find my mind again one of these days :)

I do remember taking him for his checkup and he weighs 49 lbs (which is the 15th percentile), so he's still on the small end.

Because it was an odd birthday (turning 9), he got a friend party.  He also chose to go to Airborne Trampoline Arena.    He invited his entire soccer team and lots of kids from school and his friends.   Individually, each of these boys are fantastic and I really like them.  But, holy cow, put them in a room all together and I don't think they listened to one thing I said.   There were 2 or 3 that were wonderful and were perfectly mannered, but they were so crazy that I didn't get a good group shot of them.    They all had a blast jumping and playing though, so that's what matters.

Dane - this is Jack's 3rd cousin and was the best little guy there!  So cute!

We had his party the last day Becky & her kids were in town.  I think Brooklyn loved jumping on all the trampolines too.

 Hannah is nuts!

Thankfully Jon was able to be at this party.  He came straight from work.  This little guy got really wheezy and he came to me in tears.   Jon listened to his lungs and gave him a clean bill of health to continue jumping :)

This was my attempt to have all the kids sit down and let Jack open his gifts.  You can see how successful I was..

And just like his grandpa Sorenson, this guy was just happy to be alive!

Things about Jack at age 9:

- loves ALL sports.  He plays baseball, soccer  & basketball.

- is a huge BYU fan just like his dad.   He goes to as many games as he can, although recently, he gets car sick every time he drives home from Provo.

- he's becoming a more and more picky eater.  He used to eat anything.  Even some of his favorites, he no longer likes.  He told me the only dinners he likes eating are steak & lasagna.

- He's really particular about his clothes.  They have to fit just right, or it nearly ruins his day.

- he's a good student at school - very obedient and sweet to his teacher.  He loves math and hates cursive.

- wants to be a police officer when he grows up

- tolerates his 5 sisters most of the time.  He tells me that Hailey is his favorite.

- takes piano & art lessons.  Claims to hate both of them, but is actually really good at both.

His best friends are Bowen Davies & Case Elliott.

We love you Jack!!

Becky's October visit

Okay - time to catch up on the blog!    Back in October, Becky & her kids came for 2 weeks and we had a fantastic time!  It was so fun to see the cousins all play together, it was wonderful to have someone to visit with during the day and go on errands with and it was fun to do some of the fun "fall" things together.

The weather was gorgeous this October!     Here are a few of the things we did:

Lots of jumping on the trampoline..

Hailey, Brooklyn & Lucy

Lots of cute baby smiles...

We took the kids swimming....
a brave endeavor considering we had lots of little ones - thankfully Jon & Lindsey were there too!

We met Misty & Sophia at the mall to play in the dinosaur area and eat lunch...

We went to Gardner Village with Misty & Sophia, Meg & her kids and Annie.
The funnest surprise of the day was finding out that Aunt Claudia & Uncle Bruce were in town and they met us there!

What fun, happy, great times!
