Jack's Safety Town

(Yeah - just moments ago, we were reconnected to the world - phone, internet & cable!!)

One of the things I'll miss most about Upper Arlington, is their great Safety Town program. When a child is going into Kindergarten or First Grade, they can take a 2 week class called "Safety Town." Each day (for three hours), they get to learn about things like fire safety, water safety, stranger safety, poison safety, bike safety, animal safety, etc. They have a couple of local police officers that come every day, so the kids become really familiar with who they are. They learn songs and poems and they ride trikes around a pretend city. We made sure to stay in Ohio long enough for Jack to be able to do this.

It worked out (mostly by luck), that he and Brynlee were in the same class with several others kids from his preschool. He had a great time playing with his friends and learning about safety. (It also worked out great for packing purposes, because he was gone from 9-noon each day and the girls were at Jodi's camp from 9:30 to 1:30 each day for two weeks).

On the last day, they had a graduation for the little kids. Great job Jack!!
