We had a crazy, nutty Easter weekend this year! We had hoped to go to Oregon to visit Jon's parents. Jon had 1 shift on Saturday evening that he tried and tried to get someone to take or trade. He called several people, sent out several e-mails and did all he could to get out of it...but, no luck!
So, we just decided to make the best of it and have an enjoyable weekend at home. On Friday, the kids didn't have school and we had decided to take Emily to see "Hunger Games." Right before we were going to leave, Jon got a text from another doc asking if he still wanted someone to take that shift. We debated whether to pack everyone up really quick and just go, but in the end, we decided to stay. We had already invited both sides of our families over for Easter dinner, etc.
On Saturday evening, Jon went to work that stupid shift that he had, and I let the kids dye Easter eggs. Emily went babysitting (can I really possibly have a daughter old enough to do that?) and the rest of us dyed to our hearts content (or at least until I got tired of cleaning up the messes and told them it was over).
I'm not sure why we dye eggs - the kids don't like hard-boiled eggs and even if I let them do 100 each, they'd still be asking for more :). I guess it's like carving pumpkins - you just do it because that's what being a kid is all about!

Glad you guys stayed (even though sad you couldn't see Jon's parents). You are always the best host.
