Basketball Season

We are nearing the end of a great basketball season! Jack played Hoops 101, which is for Kindergarten & 1st grade kids. They would have an hour class on Saturday morning, where they would learn skills and practice drills. Then they would play a pick-up game. Jack really loved it and it was fun to watch his skills improve. He was thrilled to get a trophy and a new basketball at the end of his season. He spends time each day outside shooting baskets at our hoop. He came in one day and told me he had just made 41 in a row and wondered if I should call the Guiness Book of World Records to see if any other 6 year old had done that. (I didn't get ANY pictures of Jack playing this year -ahhh!)

Emily played in the 3rd & 4th grade girls Jr. Jazz league. She had a great time too! It was her first time playing with just girls and she loved it. She scored quite a few baskets and got better and better over the season as well. Here are some pictures of her....I borrowed my sister's camera and just couldn't quite figure out whether or not to use the flash, and how to get the pictures to be clear and light.

She's the blurry one shooting the ball.

Lindsey also had a great season, playing on the 2nd grade level. Unfortunately, not enough girls signed up for a girls-only league, so she played with boys. Her friend, Sierra, was on her team, so at least she wasn't the only girl. It was great to watch Lindsey play defense. She was always right with her guy/girl. It was fun to see her get better and better too and hopefully next year, she'll be able to play with just girls.

Our favorite ref - Hannah Olsen! Hannah is our 2nd cousin and she was one of the group who taught Jack's Hoops 101 class, but she also helped ref a couple of Lindsey's games. She does a great job and it's always fun to see her there! Thanks Hannah!
Overall, we've had a lot of fun with basketball this winter! Our highlights also included going to a Jazz game together and the Harlem Globetrotter's game together (with Big Easy & Flight Time from The Amazing Race). Both were awesome!!

I love that Jack asked you to call the Guiness Book of World Records. I was very impressed with Emily's skills. And I love Lindsey's defensive stance :) Can't wait to come watch spring soccer!

Love Jack's comment. That is so great! And I think he deserves to be in the guiness book. Looks like a lot of fun! The picture of Hannah is really cute too!
